Weekly photos 22/52

There has been lots of fog while we have been on vacation in Cape Cod,  but it looks so cool!  One of our favourite places to visit is Monomoy Point Nature Reserve.  The dunes at Provincetown are a wonderful place to visit and get a serious leg workout climbing them! Can you see the chair at the top of this dune? I wanted to sit in it so badly! We spotted this shark on a disused lifeguard station. Looking for shells is always a winning activity.  A quick jaunt in Nickerson State Park. Looking out at one of the ponds at Nickerson State Park. Low tide at the beach nearest to where we are staying. More fog! Sitting on top of Doane Rock. Lookout viewing stations at Chatham Light Beach. A few snaps from our holidays so far. I have picked up a few bargains from the Cape thrift shops which I am hoping to share with you this week.  Happy Tuesday x

One + Four = Life. Weekly Photos 24/52

We are now home from our holiday in Cape Cod and it took about 15 minutes to settle in. I love coming home from holidays as much as going! Among the photos I took last week, there seemed to be a mini theme of signs, so I picked some to share for One+Four=Life. Lots of things seem to have been in place for the past 50 years with little change on Cape Cod, including lots of cool signs. I am still wondering what a P.X. restaurant is? Do you know? Do tell. The lifeguard stands were in a car park waiting to take up their post on the beach, I took this photo amid a thick sea mist. I hope you have a fun week ahead planned! Happy Monday x

Preparing for Vacation.

We are going on holiday at the weekend – hurrah!  Well it will be hurrah when I am on the plane on my way, until then I am in a little tornado sized week of making lists, packing bags and cleaning the house, emptying the fridge and rounding up lovely neighbors to help feed the cat and dog and water the plants. Isn’t it a worry all this getting ready for holidays?  Are you a holiday worrier or are you too busy browsing the guide books? We are going to Cape Cod, so we are still in this country which won’t involve new money and we are staying in a rental cottage, so we have a place to ourselves.  We have been to the same town for the past two holidays and we really like it, I worried (shocker) that it is a bit boring going to the same place every holiday, but we know the area now and still find new things to do and places to see.  The Cape Cod coastline seems to …

Nearly going home

Aren’t holidays brilliant? I love them and this has been one of the best ever, two weeks in Cape Cod. We have have had all the weather available except snow and loved it! What else is brilliant about holidays? Going home! I love the going home part. I don’t love the trip to the airport and the waiting and waiting and taking your shoes off and holding up your jeans while they check your belt for any deadly metal. Mine has no deadly metal, it is a very kind belt, but it is needed in the ‘holding up my jeans and not flashing anyone while I take off my potentially killer shoes’ department. The boys went fishing and caught weed and something so huge it chewed off the fishy lure thing on the end of the line. We spotted lots of wildlife, including horseshoe crabs, gray seals, a coyote which was very cool and just behind our cottage (eek), birds birds and more birds, fiddler crabs (whoever invented those things was clearly drunk) and chipmunks …

Phone photo apps

Have you updated your ‘over’ app lately? I just updated mine and I have lots of cool new and free artwork to add to my pictures. While we are on the subject of apps, do you know of any app which allows you to draw on your own photos? I know Laminar Express lets you do this but the ‘pen’ line is super thick and I would like a thinner option. What cool photo apps do you use? Any new ones I need to know about?

A lovely day in Cape Cod

A rainy beach walk and new sea weed. Cape cod soul photo challenge – yes, I have found a daily photo challenge just for Cape Cod! How cool is this! Follow along on my Instagram (@catseatdogsmakes) or wait for the round up at the end of the trip. We joined the Eldredge Library in Chatham and borrowed a pile of books and DVDs to keep us entertained! Roald Dahl, Scooby Doo, some animal books and some pirate books. Today is chock full of glorious sunshine! Braving the cold sea to check out a local Horseshoe crab friend!

Cool things I have found

Seaweed flowers on the beach. There is a ton of seaweed, and I like that some of it looks like flowers. I spot the pretty ones and take a photo. Never arrange what I find, just take a snap and keep looking. Chips. These chips are yum! Spotted in Trader Joes. Buttons in a lovely box. I must confess I love the box that these buttons are in as much as the buttons. The brass hearts are the reason I had to have them. There are some mother of pearl buttons in here too and a pin!

We’re all going on a Summer holiday

This week’s list for #52lists is ‘Favourite things for Breakfast’. I thought this would be a hard one as I don’t usually want anything to eat as soon as I get up. Normally I go to the gym after dropping the boys at school, so I wait until after that for brekkie. I do love to make banana, choc chip, cinnamon and peanut butter bread, it is so easy and it uses frozen bananas very well, it keeps well, so it is a great breakfast treat rather than a staple. I have only just found a recipe I like for Granola so I am going to stick to it for now. I made another this weekend, but it wasn’t as good as this one. Granola is more of a regular breakfast food than cake – honest! Favourite things for breakfast list. If you want to check out my other lists and photography craziness on Instagram, check it out here or click the little blue camera over there to the left and have a wander through …
