‘I Like’ Fridays featuring heart pendants and movie going.

This past week has seen some great weather, the raised beds are almost defrosted in the garden and I am almost in a digging and planting frame of mind.  I must be patient, with the planting at least, it is still January and we could get all manner of cold and snow up until March! I do want to get some chili pepper plants started inside, because mine only began producing peppers last year at the beginning of the Autumn and they never got to ripen properly.  So this year I plan to do a better job! So, what have you been up to this week?  Here are a few things I have been liking – Trying out more drawing and painting and I am looking into trying some hand lettering, there are classes at Creative Bug and I borrowed this book from the library. Seeing ‘Mr Turner’ at one of St Louis’s oldest movie theatres this week and I liked it.  Mike Leigh did an amazing job with the costumes and settings, the whole film …

‘I like’ Fridays, featuring macarons and watercolours.

Today I very much liked the macarons I was given by my lovely friend!  Yum yum!  Aren’t they the prettiest confection?  Beauties on the outside and tasty on the inside! This fine Friday I have also been liking these things – Starting a Sketchbook class with Lisa Congdon as recommended by the talented ladies at Squiggle and Swirl and TIny Rotten Peanuts.  I bought a brand new sketchbook, paints and brushes today which was very exciting!  I don’t think I have bought new watercolours since college. I can’t wait to get started. This curry recipe from Beets and Birch is on my menu for next week. Reading Frankie magazine, although I am about two issues behind Australia where the mag is published.  I still enjoy it, reading about summer when it is winter here and vice versa! Finding some vintage treasures at Recycled Couture.  I scored a lovely Bill Blass floral skirt and a teal dress from the 1960’s which will be great over jeans. These are some things I have liked this week, what …

‘I like’ Friday.

This week I have liked – Reading about the adventures of Quinoa (the girl, not the grain) at That Summer Feeling. Cycling and surfing in the studio at Core 3 Fitness. Reading up on mandalas here and here and making some of my own. Pinterest, I have neglected my boards and I need to organize them and maybe add a couple more.  Any tips? Reading All the Light we Cannot See and Awful Auntie. Making cool photo effects using this technique from Fat Mum Slim. I hope you are liking your Friday!

‘I Like’ Fridays.

This week I have been liking these things. Choosing a new book to read.  I have finished ‘Everything I Never Told You’ by Celeste Ng and I really liked it and read it in record time – 2 weeks is a very fast read for me. Nothing like the pressure of getting it back to the library with no renewal option! So, now I have ‘The Memory Garden’ by Mary Rickert and ‘Station Eleven’ by Emily St John Mandel to choose between and I am pretty sure there is no renewal on these either, so I had better get started. Making mince pies with my home made mincemeat using Jamie Oliver’s recipe.  I love mince pies and I only have one pan which makes six at a time.  This is probably for the best, if I made more, I am sure they would disappear just as fast! Planning and making some new jewelry for Christmassy gifts. Helping to organise the 4th grade ‘Winter Holiday’ party during which we shall be making cards for classmates, decorating …

‘I like’ Fridays

This week I have been brimming with creative inspiration which has been manifesting itself in painted cards, jewelry and letters. I bought some new inks today which took me right back to college days when I was studying for a degree in fashion design and Windsor and Newton inks were one of my favourite illustration tools.  I can’t wait to get playing with them again. The necklace with the orange tassel is about to be put on the shelves of my Etsy shop. These books are inspiring me – The Busy Girls Guide to Photography and The Art of Everyday Photography. These blogs are inspiring me –  Milk Please Mum, Susannah Conway and Hula Seventy. This course is constantly inspiring me –  Paint. Plan. Play. from Studio Calico. These prints and products are calling to me – Orla Kiely for Target. Happy Friday, I hope you are looking forward to the weekend.  Tomorrow I will be doing a Six Word Saturday.  Want to join in?  Please do!

‘I like’ Fridays.

Happy Friday!  I hope your day is going wonderfully.  Here is what I am liking today – Stocking/Advent calendar fillers. I was very happy to find these cool arrowheads today which I can pop into the Advent calendar for the boys or use a stocking filler. Making jewelry. This is a lovely long, wood necklace I have just made, all ready to go into my Etsy store. These really long necklaces are one of my favourites at the minute, they go with everything and can be worn long or wrapped two or even three times around your neck.  I picked the flowers as I walked home this week from doing some Christmas shopping.  Pretty weeds! DIY lip balm. I am looking forward to making some lip balm soon, I want to use herby flavours like Basil and Parsley and Lemongrass.  Sound good?  I think so!  There is a recipe to follow in this fab post by Tiny Rotten Peanuts.  I always see the DIY ‘beauty’ products, but never actually make them, I fancy whipping up some …
