Weekly Photos 33/52

1. This lovely pink flower took a few days to unfurl and it is a beauty. 2. Orange flower upside down. 3. I hope no-one needs to catch a bus from this stop. 4.& 5.  I thought these fungi looked like a gaggle of butterflies on this old tree stump. 6.  Our local YMCA has emptied the pool to give it a clean following a summer of camp activity.  Here it is empty and ready to receive new swimming water. 7. This weekend I helped at a birthday party where the girls were making bracelets.  They were a lovely group and all went home with a lovely bracelet. Happy Monday x

Philomena and Ruth

Philomena and Ruth is the name of a newly opened shop close to St Louis.  They specialise in hand made and local products, everything from clothes – new and vintage – to soap, accessories and jewelry.   It is in the lovely town of Waterloo in Illinois and about a 30-40 minute drive from St Louis.  I have never been to south Illinois before and I enjoyed seeing the countryside on the way and checking out the old barns and pretty towns we passed. We stopped on route at the fastest drive through McDonalds ever!  Filet o fish ordered and eaten within 10 minutes. We were hungry and on a mini road trip!  This time warp speed set the theme for the rest of the afternoon because we were on a misson, a mission to plant. Elizabeth the gorgeous owner of Philomena and Ruth, needed us to fill and plant the enormous planters she has installed outside the shop on the sidewalk. You can see the empty planters in the above photo.  They were crying …

Six Word Saturday

I snapped these lovely flowers on the way to bootcamp class this morning. I just love the colours together. After one too many margaritas last night, I nearly didn’t go to class, but I felt better for a workout and I got a picture of these beauties. Win and win! I take a Six Word Saturday every week and post them here and on Instagram under #sixwordsaturday. Want to join in? Hurrah! You can also give me a Six Word Saturday in the comments. Happy weekend.

Through the Lens Thursday. Flower.

I know, ha ha, very funny. We have a few inches of snow and I have to find a flower for Through the Lens Thursday! Challenge accepted. I found some snow topped hydrangeas which with some bending and twisting and kneeling in the snow, I could photo against the beautiful blue sky we have today. I took a ton of photos, different numbers on different dials for different effects. In fact the first two I took, I just shot them straight off, I forgot to check my light meter and all other numbers.  Someone was going by and in my self conscious rush, I just started to snap away.  Well, thank you stranger who made me uncomfortable in my random photo taking because these are my favourite photos of the lot! It is so exciting to get the photos onto the iPad to check them out properly. I always put my photos onto the iPad so that I can see them nice and big and check for focus or lack of it.  I get a …

Ten on the 10th

I am so happy it isn’t raining today for ten on the 10th photos. I was beginning to think it was going to be rainy on the 10th of every month!  So in the monthly tradition of taking ten photos on the 10th day, here are ten photos.  All taken on the iPhone 4. I literally stopped and turned around to get a photo of this dew soaked leaf.   A flower spotted on the way into the Y this morning.   Bags all ready for the Mother’s Day Plant sale at school.  The kids all get a plant to give to their Mama and the opportunity to buy plants and hanging baskets.   We pass this Lilac bush every day and it smells divine! Look at all those teeny tiny flowers.  Beautiful. I was taking a photo for my daily prompt and accidently got my feet and quite liked it!  The effects are provided by Hipstamatic.  New Saltwater sandals!  Love ’em, super comfy.   ‘Stars’  was the ‘photo of the day’.  These are some …

April photo a day 2013

I cannot believe it is May already!  The weather is behaving in the usual Mid West spring way – bonkers!  We have had torrential rain, tornado warnings, snow flurries, sunshine, hot and cold.  A typical April then! Of course I have been taking a photo (or a few) every day following the prompts supplied by the lovely Fat Mum Slim.  Here is April photo a day.  I hope you like them. All photos have been taken on my iPhone 4 and some have filters and messing about and some are filter free. Day 1. Play.  Seals at the St Louis Zoo. Day 2. Blue.  A Blue Jay feather. Day 3. Something beginning with A.  Thanks to Superman for lending his arm. Day 4. This happened today.  I moved all of my sewing box into a new home, a vintage biscuit tin. Day 5. Something good.  Blooming trees. Day 6. Air.   Day 7. Dreamy.  Marshmallows. Day 8. On your plate. Day 9. Tiny.  Day 10.  A place.  A place for the Box Turtle to hide. …
