Weekly Photos 20/52

  1.  My neighbour’s lovely onion head flower. 2.  Birdy at the zoo. 3.  Seal teeth. 4.  Seal watching. 5.  Hippo behind the fish. 6.  Rain soaked Peony. 7.  Clouds on Hipstamatic. 8.  Watching kickball. 9.  Thistle at the Metro train track. This week was hot and cold and sunny and rainy.  Pretty much all weather covered!  I survived a school field trip to the zoo where we saw lots of animals even though it rained all day.  I had a small group of kids to herd and they all had a great time, not a single complaint about the rain! I have been stalking the neighbourhood flowers, they are so glorious, I have to snap photos whenever I get chance.  The peonies were so gorgeous in the rain, I didn’t care that I was on my knees with my camera trying to get the best angle with flower and raindrops in perfect harmony (and focus). I haven’t used the Hipstamatic app for a while as sometimes all of those lens/film choices get a little …

10 on the tenth and weekly photos 19/52

10 on the tenth from Saturday, I didn’t post on Saturday because it was the Bead Soup Blog Party reveal and I didn’t want to be posting all day!  So here they are! 1.  Mr Y and I got up early to go a local church ‘Garage’ sale.  We got there so early we had to join a little line to get in.  Very keen!  I spotted this box as soon as we got there and I thought it would be ideal to store photos in.  When I bought it, it was labeled ‘suprise hardware $1’, so I took my hardware chances and got the box.  Turns out it is great for my photos and it was indeed full of hardware including some very nice hooks I will most likely use.  Good start to the sale! 2.  The jewels I made with the beads I received as part of the Bead Soup exchange. 3. and 4. A tin and buttons from the sale. 5. and 6. Award winning magnets!  Another score from the garage …

Weekly photos 18/52

Last week saw the arrival of May which is one of my favourite months of the year, the weather is usually lovely,  gracefully welcoming summer and by the end of the month school is out. For the photo selection this week we have: Storm clouds and treetops.  Impending storms always seem to make the light glow and these trees look so bright.  As soon as I snapped this, I got rather wet as I had forgotten an umberella! A pretty two tone seed. Someone had left a spade in the volleyball court. Massive sheet of safety glass and me. The cloud factory. School field day. The sunflowers are 5cm tall. I hope this week has started well for you, let’s see what it brings.  Happy Monday!

Weekly photos 17/52

It has been a week of sunshine, a school concert, seed planting and a new shower!  We can’t use it yet because it would be a wet disaster, but when the bathroom is tiled, it will be the best! There are flowers everywhere I look, from dandelions to flocks of daffodils, all so pretty! We dragged out the Swingball which is in desperate need of a new ball at the end of it’s string!  The dog has nearly bitten our’s in half.  We can still whack it, but I am afraid it will fly into two pieces very soon. I caught these reflections on a local bridge when I was getting some photos for Through the Lens Thursday this week. To the Middle School band concert we go.  I am wearing my lovely new Bohemian Trader‘s scarf which I love so much! A tree on a hill to finish this week’s collection. Do you have exciting plans this week?  I have a card to make for a card exchange (post coming, got to make …

Weekly photos 16/52

A busy week was had and a productive one too.  Monday night/Tuesday morning saw a lunar eclipse which produced the fabled ‘blood moon’.  We got up at 2am to have a look and it was no disappointment.  The moon was almost fully eclipsed and a faded red.  My husband got a picture of it, so I have borrowed it! We are in full bathroom re-do chaos but the little light is shining at the end of the tunnel, so all is well.  Never mind that the only sink is in the kitchen, the only mirror is propped on the floor in the dining room and there is no door to the bathroom!  I can’t wait for a new shower. The weather has been fab and everything is growing and sprouting in all the right directions. 1.  The Blood Moon captured by my hubs and posted on his Instagram page 2.  A two tone leaf on a green bridge. 3. Pom pom bunny! 4. The bathroom re-do continues, here is a glimpse of the original floor …

Weekly photos 15/52

Last week was filled to the brim with sunshine and flowering trees.  Out came the flip flops and the nail varnish.  The nail varnish on toes is my way of gently persuading my feet out into the open air.  It is a chilly, rainy day today, so they are safely tucked up in boots again. So let’s have a glimpse of that sunshine again along with the dog guarding the new shower base, Mr Y helping remove the bathroom floor and waiting outside Trader Joe’s.  The last photo is of some pretty wallpaper we found under the skirting board in the bathroom.  Makes we want wallpaper in all the rooms again, look at those teeny flowers, so lovely. I am linking up with Em at The Beetle Shack for her Weekly Stills Series. Happy Monday!  Have a fab week x

Weekly Photos 14/52

Last week really saw the trees starting to bloom and we had our first tornado warning trip to the basement.  Lots of rain, wind and hail and a tornado touched down about three miles from here, yikes! The garden is getting planted and we bought and build a composter which is totally encouraging everyone to eat veggies just so we can compost the peelings!     Here’s to a happy sunny week ahead!  Do you have a weekly photo round-up?  Share in the comments!  I am linking up with Em at The Beetle Shack for her Weekly Stills collection.

Weekly Photos 13/52

A chilly Spring break was had last week, we had a couple of trips out around St Louis and a nice time was had.  We came across a couple more 250 year Birthday cakes for St Louis, which really is a baby city age!  I do like all the cakes though, good idea.  I wonder how many we will see?  So far we have clocked about 8!  There will be 250 cakes in total by the end of the year all over St Louis and the surrounding area to celebrate 250 years of St Louis. We caught the train into the city and went to the Soldier’s Memorial and visited the City Museum.  The highlight of the trip for me was the hippo atop a neighbouring building and the life-size manatee sculpture also in a neighbouring building.  The manatee is suspended from a ceiling and can be seen through very dirty city windows, which is my excuse for the bad photo.  I had to photo him though, …

Weekly Photos 12/52 and Living Arrows

This past week I started to fill my album of photos for 2014, I am using Project Life by Becky Higgins photo sleeves and a ring binder to keep them in.  I think that this may mean that I am dipping my chilly toes into the world of scrapbooking, but I am mainly using the albums and sleeves for photos and write up about the photos, rather than stickers and stamps and quotes.  Of course I can’t promise that I won’t enter the world of stickers and scrapbooking doodads (is that an actual word?  I am not sure), but I am thinking I can hold off for now.  I have painted a few cards to go with the photos and I am happy with the way it is turning out so far.  I will get a few more pages done and I will share them with you.  So far here are some of the cards I painted with brush script to go among the photos. The bulbs are starting to peek up through the dead …

Weekly photos 11/52

This past week saw a couple of very nice sunny warm days which was a very nice peek at Spring.  The garlic is growing healthy green shoots and the bulbs are starting to come through.  The rest of the week was pretty chilly though. Here are last week’s photos, starting with a funny doggy face!  He was barking to get me to throw his ball when I snapped this. I took a few photos for a post I wrote earlier last week, but here is a photo I didn’t use which shows the vintage tray off. It poured with rain one night and in the morning everything was damp, but not soaked.  I spotted this solitary leaf with it’s load of raindrops so I got a picture.  When I went back later in the afternoon, it was still there, with just a few less drops, so I got an update! I took this photo of the sun behind clouds behind the magnolia tree.  Then I mixed it in with a photo I had taken of …
