Shop locally Eye candy Boutique

Small business Saturday is next week and I for one love to shop locally and small.  I count myself lucky that we can shop at local farmers markets, get bakery treats and coffee from small businesses locally and shop for fabulous things to wear at one of my favourites local businesses – Eye Candy Boutique. They are open every week, one or more days and are always happy to make appointments if you can’t make the opening hours. Check their website or facebook page and sign up for e mails to be kept up to date. I have to confess it took me a while to catch onto this little local treasure as I often walked past and saw the Eye Candy sign and wondered what it was all about. When I did go, I was not disappointed, Eye Candy has an ever changing array of fashion from accessories to cocktail dresses. Whether you are looking for jeans and a casual shirt or a full on dazzling outfit, this is the place to be. The …

To infinity (scarf) and beyond!

I have a scarf problem as you know and I do love to wear them as much as I can. Autumn is ideal scarf weather and lots of ways to wear scarves is a must. Infinity scarves are super easy to wear, but most of my scarves are the old fashioned flat variety. So I tried knotting the ends of one of my big scarves and ta-dah, I could wear it another way. I wrapped it twice around my neck and it works like a dream. This works best on big scarves made from fine fabric, so don’t go knotting up your woolly thick knit scarf! I am off to find more scarves to transform with a couple of knots.   Happy sunny Sunday!

Too many scarves

I brought all of my Autumn/Winter clobber up from the basement yesterday as it seems that shorts and t shirts are no longer welcome.  Thank goodness, I am not a hot weather creature at all.  I like clothes on and scarves and hats too! Up came the giant zip loc bags and out came the sweaters and scarves and scarves and scarves and a couple of pairs of gloves.  It seems I have a scarf problem.  I just keep them.  All of them.  Some are years old, I mean you don’t grow out of a scarf do you? I do have rather a lot of them and I do wear them (mostly).  Some I have been given, one I knitted and the rest I have picked up everywhere from Thrift shops to Target. My favourites are the fur one (no of course it isn’t real, it’s from the Gap!),  the giraffe infinity scarf (Primark), the cream one with all the fringe is a shawl from a thrift shop and I love my Muji striped …

Want. Smell. Love.

I want this bag so badly, love love love it!  It is in the new Anthropologie catalogue, but I can’t find it online.  What a bunch of teasers!  It is out of my league anyway, so I will just gaze upon the picture of it. I am loving this summer fragrance. I waft it about generously! It is very light so can be wafted without anyone fainting.  I am not honestly sure what Salt Air should smell like, but this smells light and summery and just like salt air…. I bought these fab items at a sale last week. I use the yellow jug to water my hanging baskets and I just like to look at the colours and pattern on the mat. These are my very favourite bracelets to wear this summer. They are five wood elastic bracelets I got at Buddha and Beads in Cape Cod for $1 each and they are the best. This pile of summer is going to be a lovely bracelet this week. Snacks.  I don’t get my paws …

Ombre Ocean Waiting for Snow.

I have fallen in love with these long long three strand necklaces.  Ever since I made my first one, making notes and measuring thread all the way, I have adored them. That first one took me days to finish.  I am happy I did all the measuring and guideline notes as I usually need to refer to them. I decided to make this one with an ombre look – light going to dark, in a selection of blues on a blue thread.  I always use a gorgeous vintage mother of pearl button to fasten, they are a lovely highlight to the piece and those buttons go with any colour combination I can throw at them. I am working and working on filling up my Etsy shop and I love the summer look of the linen thread which is my favourite stringing material in the whole wide world.  Check out my shop here or click the link on the left side of this page.  Let me know what you think. What do you like to accessorise …
